The Memphis Grizzlies are owned by Robert Pera, founder of Ubiquiti Networks, Inc. a communications technology company. Pera bought a majority stake in the Grizzlies in 2012.

The Memphis Grizzlies have a fairly recent history in the NBA. They joined the league in 1995 as an expansion franchise in Vancouver, before moving to Memphis in 2001. Despite a relatively short history, the franchise has had some memorable players. Here are the Grizzlies’ legendary players.

Pau Gasol

Before becoming a multiple NBA champion with the Lakers, Pau Gasol began his career with the Grizzlies. With the Memphis-based franchise, he won Rookie of the Year in 2002. Then came his first All-Star Game selections. To this day, the eldest of the Gasol brothers remains one of the best players in the franchise’s history.

Marc Gasol

Born in Barcelona, Marc Gasol has been a central part of the Grizzlies for over a decade. He was named All-Star three times and won Defender of the Year in 2013. With his great game intelligence and versatility, Pau Gasol’s little brother helped turn the Grizzlies into a team with a strong defensive identity.

Mike Conley

Mike Conley has been the Grizzlies’ reliable point guard for 12 seasons. He leads the franchise in assists and steals and has been a key component in several playoff campaigns. His leadership and solid play have made him an iconic figure in Memphis.

Zach Randolph

Zach “Z-Bo” Randolph was one of the league’s most feared scoring interiors during his time with Memphis. He was known for playing with great toughness and being an excellent rebounder. Randolph was twice voted All-Star as a representative of the Grizzlies.

Tony Allen

Tony Allen was the cornerstone of the Grizzlies’ defense and embodied the team’s “Grit and Grind” identity. Although he was never an All-Star, his defensive impact and work ethic made him a local legend in Memphis.

Ja Morant

Although his career is still in its infancy, Ja Morant has already established himself as one of the league’s most exciting players. He won Rookie of the Year in 2020 and looks set to be the face of the franchise for years to come.
