Origins
Taurean Prince’s parents are Anthony and Tamiyko Prince. He also has a sister named Catina. The Prince family struggled financially during Taurean’s early years. His father, Anthony, worked several low-paying jobs to try to support the family. However, this was still not enough to afford proper housing. Most nights, the family had no choice but to sleep in a Salvation Army shelter.

Taurean Prince played three seasons under coach Jim Weaver at Earl Warren High School in San Antonio, Texas. As a senior, he led his team to the state semifinals. Originally committed to LIU-Brooklyn, he opted for Baylor following a coaching change.
University career
Prince finished his freshman year averaging 3.7 points and 2.2 rebounds in 6.4 minutes of play. Recognized for his contribution as a sixth man in his second year, he won the Big 12 Sixth Man Award. In his fourth year, he was considered a potential candidate for Big 12 Player of the Year.
Professional career
Drafted by the Utah Jazz in 2016, Prince’s rights were traded to the Atlanta Hawks. He signed his rookie contract and put in several remarkable performances during his first season. After three seasons in Atlanta, marked by personal bests, Prince was traded to the Brooklyn Nets in 2019. At the Nets, he signed a two-year contract extension and made an immediate impact. In 2021, he was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he underwent season-ending surgery. Prince was then traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he helped them qualify for the playoffs. In 2022, he renewed his contract with the Timberwolves before signing with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2023. With the Lakers, he won the NBA’s in-season tournament.
