Origins
Max Christie is the son of Katrina (née Hannaford) and Max Sr. His mother played college basketball at Northwestern, scoring over 1,000 points. She is a practicing psychologist. His father was an NCAA basketball player at Parkland College and Wisconsin-Superior before becoming an airplane pilot. Her younger brother, Cam, is also a college athlete at Minnesota.

Max Christie excelled at Rolling Meadows High School, Illinois, forming a team with his younger brother, Cameron. As a freshman, he impressed with a 20-point average. His performance improved each season, culminating with 51 points against Elk Grove High School. As a senior, he led his team to a perfect 15-0 record, earning multiple honors, including Chicago Sun-Times Player of the Year and Illinois Gatorade Player of the Year. Christie, a five-star recruit and one of the best backs in the 2021 class, committed to Michigan State, choosing among other prestigious offers.
NCAA
At Michigan State, Christie scored a season-high 21 points against Nebraska. He finished his freshman year averaging 9.3 points, earning a spot on the Big Ten All-Freshman Team. He declared for the 2022 NBA draft while retaining his college eligibility, eventually signing an agent.
NBA
Drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers, Christie signed his rookie contract and joined the team’s Summer League. He was assigned to South Bay Lakers of the G League before being recalled. With the Lakers, he won the NBA’s in-season tournament.

Christie represented the U.S. at the FIBA Americas Under-16 Championship in Brazil, helping to win the gold medal.
