Jaime Jaquez Jr is an American basketball player playing wing in the NBA. He was born on February 8, 2001 in Irvine, California (USA). His height is 1m98. He plays for the Miami Heat.


Jaime Jaquez Jr is the son of Angela (née Sather) and Jaime Sr. They met playing basketball at Concordia University. Jaime is the third generation of his family to play in the NCAA. His paternal grandfather, Ezequiel, arrived in California with his family from Mexico as a child, and played at Ventura Community College and Northern Arizona University. Jaime has a younger brother, Marcos, as well as a younger sister, Gabriela.

High school

Jaime Jaquez Jr grew up in Camarillo and studied at Camarillo High School. In his first year, he led his team to the CIF semi-finals. He continued to shine, despite an ankle injury in his sophomore year. As a senior, he broke his school’s single-game scoring record.


Recruited by UCLA, Jaquez became a starter at the Maui Jim Maui Invitational in 2019. He was named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman team. In 2021, he played a key role in leading UCLA to the Final Four. Despite injuries in 2021-2022, he turned in great performances. In 2022-2023, he led UCLA to a Pac-12 title and was named conference player of the year.


Jaime Jaquez Jr. was selected by the Miami Heat in the 2023 NBA draft. He signed with the team on July 1. Jaquez began the 2023-2024 season with playing time restrictions but quickly impressed.
