Jabari Smith Jr is an American basketball player who plays in the NBA as a wing-forward. He was born on May 13, 2003 in Fayetteville, Georgia (USA). His height is 2m11. He plays for the Houston Rockets.


Jabari Smith Jr is the son of Jabari Smith Sr. and Taneskia Purnell. His father played college basketball at LSU and had a four-year NBA career with the Sacramento Kings, Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Nets. All this before playing abroad in Spain, Turkey, Iran and Puerto Rico. Jabari began playing basketball at the age of five, trained by his father.

Jabari Smith Jr. began playing varsity basketball his sophomore year at Sandy Creek High School. As a junior, he averaged 24.5 points and 10.8 rebounds. In his senior season, he led his team to the Class 3A state finals. He was named Mr. Georgia Basketball and Gatorade Georgia Player of the Year. Smith was selected for the McDonald’s All-American, Jordan Brand Classic and Nike Hoop Summit games. Considered a five-star recruit, Jabari Smith Jr. chose Auburn, turning down offers from several major universities. He became the highest-ranked player to commit to Auburn in the modern recruiting era.


Smith joined Auburn with high expectations. Right from his debut, he proved his leadership and work ethic. He scored 25 points against Alabama and recorded a personal best 31 points against Vanderbilt. As a freshman, he helped Auburn win the SEC championship and was named USBWA Freshman of the Year.


The Houston Rockets selected Jabari Smith Jr with the third pick of the 2022 NBA draft. He made his Summer League and preseason debuts, impressing quickly. Smith scored 17 points in his first regular-season game. He recorded several notable performances, including a personal-best 34 points against the Atlanta Hawks.
