Cody Zeller is the son of Steve Zeller and Lorri Zeller. He comes from a basketball family, his two older brothers also having played professionally in the NBA. Cody Zeller shined in his first year of high school, contributing to the Class 3A state championship with the Washington Hatchets. His performances improved each year, culminating in an average of 24.6 points and 13.1 rebounds as a senior. He won three state titles and was named Indiana Mr. Basketball, a distinction also earned by his older brothers.
NCAA
Zeller chose to play for Indiana University, turning down offers from North Carolina and Butler. Nicknamed “The Big Handsome” at IU, he led the Hoosiers to a dramatic improvement in their record, contributing to their NCAA success. After two remarkable seasons, he decided to enter the 2013 NBA draft.
NBA
Drafted fourth by the Charlotte Bobcats, Zeller signed his rookie contract and quickly showed his potential. After several seasons with the Bobcats/Hornets, marked by improving performances and injuries, he signed with the Portland TrailBlazers, then briefly with the Utah Jazz, before joining the Miami Heat.
