Caleb Martin and his twin brother Cody overcame many challenges to succeed in the NBA. They were raised by their single mother, Jenny Bennett, and older brother Raheem, in a dilapidated, bug-infested mobile home. It was there that they began playing basketball on a battered hoop.

High school

Caleb Martin played for Oak Hill Academy and Davie County High School. As a senior, he was considered the second-best player in Michigan.


After a successful period at NC State, where he posted impressive averages, Caleb Martin transferred to the University of Nevada. Under coach Eric Musselman, he burst onto the scene, winning Mountain West Conference Player of the Year, thanks to outstanding performances that propelled the Wolf Pack to unprecedented heights, including a berth in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. This period marked a turning point, cementing his reputation on the national stage.


Despite a dazzling college career, Martin was not selected in the 2019 NBA draft. This moment could have been a deal breaker for many. However, on July 31, 2019, he signed with the Charlotte Hornets, joining his brother Cody, who had been drafted by the same team. This signing marked the start of his professional career. On October 19, the Hornets converted his contract to a two-ways deal, allowing him to play for both the main team and the G League affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm. Caleb Martin’s trajectory took a new turn on September 14, 2021, when he signed a two-ways contract with the Miami Heat. This opportunity was a stepping stone for Martin to prove his worth in a new organization. He was promoted to a standard contract with the Heat on February 15, 2022, a recognition of his growing role and influence within the team.
