Biography of Brandon Ingram
Brandon Ingram is an American basketball player who plays wing in the NBA. He was born on September 2, 1997 in Kinston, North Carolina (USA). His height is 2m03. He plays for the New Orleans Pelicans.
Origins
Brandon Ingram is the son of Donald and Joann Ingram. He has two half-siblings, an older brother, Donovan, and an older sister, Brittany. He shares a father with Donovan and a mother with Brittany. Ingram’s father began his career as a police officer and manager of a local gym. He now works full-time in a welding factory, building forklifts. Before that, Donald was a basketball prospect, playing in semi-professional leagues.
Although Ingram grew up in a one-story house on Highland Avenue in Kinston, his brother Donovan grew up in a different house but spent weekends with Brandon, teaching him basketball. Despite an extremely high crime rate in Kinston, Ingram remained focused on basketball. Before he was a teenager, his brother allowed him to play with him and his older friends, an experience Ingram describes as “the best thing that ever happened to my game.” His brother, known as Bo, played in the NCAA.

High school
Brandon Ingram started on the bench at Kinston, growing to become a key player. He led his team to four consecutive state titles, a first for North Carolina. As a senior, he shined, averaging 24.3 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. He was named North Carolina’s Mr. Basketball and participated in the McDonald’s All-American Game.
University
At Duke, Ingram made his debut with 15 points against Siena. He quickly became a sensation, scoring 26 points against Georgia Southern. His performances helped Duke reach the NCAA Sweet 16. Ingram concluded his Duke season averaging 17.3 points and was named ACC Rookie of the Year.
NBA
Drafted by the Lakers in 2016, Ingram showed his potential in his first season. In 2019, he was traded to the Pelicans, where he exploded, becoming an All-Star and winning Most Improved Player. He signed a five-year contract with the Pelicans in 2020. Ingram continued to impress, recording several triple-doubles and setting personal bests.
National Team
Brandon Ingram was selected to Team USA to train with the Olympic team in 2016. He participated in the 2023 World Cup with Team USA.
