Between France and Jared Newson (6’5’’, 32 years old), there is definitely a special relationship that has developed during his professional basketball career, which has also took him to Germany, Australia, Poland and Finland. In a few weeks, he will actually begin his sixth consecutive season in this country. After playing four years in Pro B (french second division) with Hyères-Toulon, Saint-Vallier and Orchies (2 years), Newson joined Lorient in Nationale 1 (french third division). With the team located in the west of France, the member of the UT Martin Athletics Hall of Fame averaged 17.2 points (49% field goal, 40% behind the 3 point shot line), 4.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 2.2 steals per game last season. Winner of several slam dunk contests overseas, the native of Belleville (Illinois) has also offered to the fans some awesome poster dunks.
