Bayern Munich has been on the rise since the early 2010s. After a long period in the second division, the club has returned to the elite of German basketball and made a name for itself on the European stage. Bayern enjoyed a golden period from 2013 onwards, reaching the Euroleague Top 16 on their first appearance. That year, they also won the national title for the first time since 1955. In recent years, FC Bayern Munich’s basketball section has confirmed its status by winning the German championship in 2018 and 2019. In 2020, the arrival of Italian coach Andrea Trinchieri led to Bayern’s best-ever seasons in the Euroleague. The club narrowly missed out on qualification for the Final Four in 2022.
