Macari Brooks: “I can’t wait to play in Italy”

New player of Taranto (Italy) in Serie C championship, american guard Macari Brooks just signed his first pro contract overseas. We met him for an interview.

3PTSHOT: Can you describe yourself ? What about your style of play ?
Macari Brooks: I’m Macari Brooks, 24 years old, and from Chicago Illinois. My style of play is more like Russell Westbrook. I can drive very well, I shoot the mid range and three pointer very well. I’m very explosive and it can get better. I love defense.

3PTSHOT: You are a DePaul University alumni. What did you learned about your experience there ?
Macari Brooks: What I learned at the Depaul was becoming a better team player and learning from others on my team. The main thing I learned at the Depaul was to respect my teammates and myself.

3PTSHOT: Can you compare NCAA D1 experience to NAIA ?
Macari Brooks: NCAA Division 1 is a big difference from NAIA Division 1. Because the players in NCAA Division 1 are more skilled and the competition is way better. I finished my senior year at a NAIA. The University Of Pikeville one of the power houses in NAIA Men’s basketball. The workout are more intense in NCAA division 1 than they are in NAIA.

3PTSHOT: How did you get this opportunity to sign in Italy ?
Macari Brooks: I got the opportunity to play in Italy because several agents contacted me and one guy gave me the best opportunity to start my pro career in Italy. Also I have several close friends that’s been signed under the same agency as me so I knew I could trust my agent.

3PTSHOT: What will be your role on your new team ?
Macari Brooks: My role on my new team is to play my game and help lead my team to championships.

3PTSHOT: What do you know about Europe and more particularly Italy ?
Macari Brooks: I don’t really know anything about Italy right now but I can’t wait to experience this amazing opportunity.

3PTSHOT: Are you excited about this first professional experience overseas ?
Macari Brooks: I’m very excited about my first professional season because this is what I’ve been dreaming about my whole life. And I thank god for giving me this amazing blessing.

3PTSHOT: What are your goals for the next seasons ?
Macari Brooks: My goals for next season is to get better and stronger and come back on a whole different level of play. It’s only right to keep getting better.
