Between France and Jared Newson (6’5’’, 32 years old), there is definitely a special relationship that has developed during his professional basketball career, which has also took him to Germany, Australia, Poland and Finland. After playing four years in Pro B (french second division) with Hyères-Toulon, Saint-Vallier and Orchies (2 years), Newson joined Lorient in Nationale 1 (french third division). With the team located in the west of France, the member of the UT Martin Athletics Hall of Fame averaged 17.2 points (49% field goal, 40% behind the 3 point shot line), 4.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 2.2 steals per game last season.
