Table of contents

Brandon Dean is a young american combo guard with a lot of promises. Leader on and off the court, he just finished his college career with great individual stats and now wants to start his professional career in the United States or overseas. We met him during a very nice interview.

3PTSHOT: Can you introduce yourself ?
Brandon Dean: My name is Brandon Dean and I’m 24 years old. I am a 6’2 and 185 lb combo guard. I started playing basketball when I was 4 years old. My mom gave me a ball and I fell in love with the game. I grew up in Bridgeton, New Jersey as a huge Allen Iverson fan. I always admired how tough he was even with him being the smallest guy on the court. As I got older Kobe Bryant took over as my favorite player. His work ethic and killer mentality are like nobody else. He exemplifies excellence. I try to have the same qualities in everything I do.

3PTSHOT: Can you describe your game ?
Brandon Dean: I am a pure combo guard that is a tough matchup for anyone. I have a strong build and my quickness allows me to dominate guards of any size. I am very poised when running the point and know when I need to be a distributor or a scorer. I am a pure shooter with NBA range and I have no problem shooting off the catch or off the dribble. I can get in the lane and finish with a mid range jumper, floater, or at the rim with either hand. I pride myself in being as efficient as they come, shooting 45% from the field, 40% from 3, and 90% from the line. I have a high basketball IQ and do whatever the team needs me to do to win. I especially take pride in being a tenacious defender and I always wants to guard the other team’s best player. I like to lead by example whether it be verbally or with my actions. No one will outwork me and that is promised.

3PTSHOT: Tell us about your career in Flagler Palm Coast High School and after your college years.
Brandon Dean: I attended Flagler Palm Coast for my last 3 years of high school where I played varsity all 3 years. I’m the school’s all time leading scorer and made all conference team my junior and senior year. I scored 43 points against the eventual player of the year while holding him to 12 in the final game of the regular season. Averaging 25 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists my senior year.

3PTSHOT: NAIA is not very famous in Europe. What can you tell me about the level, kind of players playing in this championship ?
Brandon Dean: I played in the Sun Conference which is the top conference in NAIA. There are usually 4-5 teams in the conference that are ranked in the top 10 in the country throughout the entire season. Many players from the conference play professionally and there has even been a few guys who have made it to the NBA.

3PTSHOT: How was your senior year in Ave Maria University last season ?
Brandon Dean: I had a very good senior year averaging 17 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal while shooting 45% from the field, 40% from 3, and 90% from the line. I was my school’s male athlete of the year, team MVP, and made the all conference team. I had 26 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists against the #4 team in the nation and had a game where I shot perfect from the field and led my team to a victory.

3PTSHOT: What is your basketball career plan ?
Brandon Dean: My plan is to play professionally overseas and eventually rise to the top leagues/NBA. I was in the Elite Skills Training NBA Pre Draft Camp this summer where there were 22 guys signed to summer league rosters. I plan on attending again next year and earning my way to an NBA roster.

3PTSHOT: To conclure, what mean basketball in your life ?
Brandon Dean: Basketball is my first love. I play the game for my mother who has been my driving force since I began playing. The goal is to be able to provide for her through basketball. Basketball is what I wake up thinking about and go to sleep dreaming about. I don’t know anyone who has more passion for the game than I do.
